I fibbed

April 7th, 2010

I said it wouldn’t be long until I blogged again and as you can see from this post’s date, it has been half a year. I have excuses, but I don’t think they are important enough to share.

The end of 2009 was very consistent. I knew I was being laid off in December but I didn’t have anything planned.  As the year went on, I tried to make myself feel something about my pending unemployment but I couldn’t conjure up any sort of emotion. Because of this, I decided to enjoy my life outside of work as if I wasn’t being laid off.

I shopped, ate out, worked out, drank lots of starbucks, etc. After Halloween, I realized Christmas season was upon us and I hadn’t saved a dime!  Well, what did I do? Looked up all the black Friday deals and woke up at 4 a.m. and headed to Wal-Mart. It sounded a little crazy, but Kristi (Steven’s cousin) picked a great Wal-Mart. It was as crowded as a popular Wal-Mart would be on a weekday from 5 pm-7pm.  I got some good stuff and didn’t spend too much money. I was still safe and still in my ‘i’m not being laid off’ bubble.  December came and went and I was still working.  I found out that the transition didn’t go as smoothly as possible so they needed a few of us to stay a little bit longer.  I stayed and I still didn’t have a plan.  By the end of January, I was done.

This is where I am now.

Since then, we have gone on a snowboarding trip (which was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced), I have taken a knitting class and am currently working on a scarf, and I have been applying to all sorts of jobs every week.

I have two more trips planned for this month: Las Vegas Bachelorette Trip and Honolulu, HI. I am hoping that I will start working after we get back.
