california, here we come

July 5th, 2008

It is the morning of our second day in Orange County, California.  We arrived at around 8:30 in the morning yesterday and immediately went for a VERY early lunch.  We ate at  Del Taco, which is supposed to be a really good version of Taco Bell?  Well, it wasn’t bad.  After that, we got lost trying to find our hotel.  It wasn’t so bad since we got there SO early!!!  Since we didn’t really plan anything and didn’t know what our surroundings were going to look like, we had to sit around and think of what to do and how long it would take to get there.  Newport Beach was our destination.  That was a disaster!! Everyone was headed to the beach because it was the fourth of July.  By everyone, I really mean everyone. We could not find any parking spots and tow trucks were everywhere ready to punish the people who didn’t obey the city parking rules.  Eventually, after dropping all the others off to go have fun at the beach, me and Laurie roamed around and found a parking spot that was there all along.  So, we headed to the beach to meet with the others and saw it was one big college party.  I was imagining pristine waters and white sand (like Hawaii).  It was drunk college students, dirty diapers and pads(can you believe that?), brown sand, and COLD water.  Well, everyone tried to make the best of it.  Hina invited us over for dinner, which was so freaking sweet of her.  Her food was good! I am so ashamed I can’t cook like that.  Omer is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! I think everyone loved that little boy.  He didn’t even flinch at the sound of the fireworks ( we went to watch fireworks nearby their apartment).

So today, I woke up really early…so I decided to write in this blog since I never get to otherwise.  I reallly want to go to the gym but have no work out clothes and can’t really go anywhere to get some since they aren’t open yet.  So, guess what our adventure is for today? ………… Santa Monica and Los Angeles!!

that’s what you get when you let your heart win

I have Paramore stuck in my head and I am trying to study for my final exam!

I donated blood on Tuesday.  It was a small attempt to feel like a good Samaritan.   It was an experience, let me tell you.  Carter Bloodcare arranged this blood drive with Turner and a few of us from Corporate were able to sign up.  I walked over to the bus with some co-workers.  The bus was at our Dallas Bu, which is only a few blocks and a few minutes away.  I was SO nervous at first!! Don’t get me wrong, I love needles, but it was my first time!! Everyone’s first time is exciting and scary at the same time 😉 (is that a “That’s what she said”?) Anyway, so they put the needle in me and my hand felt funny and prickly and it was over in a matter of minutes.  I got some juice and crackers and sat down for a few.  We started walking back and I was fine until we were one block away from our building.  Everything started get black and I held onto one of my coworkers.  After a few stops along the way to my desk, I made it and I was whiter than even a white person. It was pretty crazy!!!! I still want to do it again if I get the opportunity, but I will make sure I don’t go on my way for at least 15 minutes.

We are leaving for our little summer holiday tomorrow! I will say that I am not excited.  I don’t really see it happening in my head and also I don’t want to get too worked up over it.  I want to get some sun and some waves!! :)  I am looking forward to that.

OK, I need to study!

bye bye
