you are the sweetest thing i’ve found since whenever

August 7th, 2008

I am in a very strange mood. I feel a heavy burden on my shoulders and its almost depressing, but then I feel butterflies in my stomach every hour or so.

I don’t know ? I have my wisdom teeth extraction tomorrow! eh, I am ready to get the bottom right tooth taken out because it has been bothering me a lot. Let’s see how well Steven waits on me hand and foot!

I reallly want to get away. I want me and Steven to go on a world tour. I want us to be nomads and get ourselves into trouble and meet new people and see old things.

It is pretty strange how things about yourself start to change as you get older. I used to take at least one shower a day. Most times I would take one when I woke up and then sometime when I got home. I made sure I got up early enough to be able to pick out my outfit, take my shower, do my hair, do my make up and eat breakfast. I had to wear clothes that positively reflected my body (which meant tight and short) and bat my eyelashes at every guy that walked by. I was in track and running was just a part of my day. I took medicine every chance I got.

Ok, now I take showers when I have to (when I smell really bad) and I only do my hair when I have to go to a party or fancy dinner. Same with make up. The clothes I have now are plain and not tight. Now I run to relieve myself of stress. I do not take medicine now. I vie for more natural remedies.

I was a barbie and now I am a hippie.

I am so inconsiderate

I can not believe I didn’t talk about my trip to California! I know why though: First, I am an unexperienced blogger. I haven’t learned the rule of following through. Second, I am so busy! I have not been able to get on my website for a long time and I need to start making time. Ok, so the trip was fun. California was completely different than I had imagined in my head. I thought we would see palm trees everywhere and people roller blading and riding bikes. I thought it would be more relaxed and nice people with pretty tan skin and windblown hair. Boy, was I wrong!! California has horrible traffic! Horrible!!! Every woman we approached was a complete witch. We just wanted directions dammit! It was kinda dirty. I know beach towns aren’t the cleanest of places, but it looked kinda like a McDonald’s ball-pit. Newport beach on July 4th is the worst place to go. I saw a dirty maxi pad on the beach. What reaction would you have? yup! So, other than that, it was fun. We went back to Newport beach the day before we left and it was so much fun. I had sand buried in every orifice of my body (sorry, that is disturbing) and by the end of the day, I looked like I had been washed ashore from some distant island. It was great. After that, we had a dilemma with Whale Watching. There were some ‘scheduling conflicts’ so we got sent to the Laguna Beach area (Dana Point to be exact) and went on a different whale watching tour. So, I saw my favorite animal….a BLUE WHALE! I don’t even know how to describe the feeling. It was like seeing a mythical creature. It was the sweetest thing. I wanted to swim with it and talk with it and keep it company. I would not dare ride on it unless it offered. We also saw dolphins. They weren’t the bottle nose, but the common dolphin. They were playful and cute. Lastly, we saw sea lions. Those animals were absolutely adorable. We did get to go to L.A. and walked along the Hollywood stars and saw the Chinese theater. We went to Santa Monica and hung out at the beach and went to the pier. That was nice. I got to see my cousin the first night we got there. She made us dinner (so yummy) and we hung out at her apartment and played with her son until we had to go see fireworks (independence day). Her son is so fun! He was laughing up a storm and teasing us until no end. I can’t wait until my next trip. The only problem is, I don’t know where I want to go. I have so many places in my trip inquiry: China, Japan, Hawaii(again), Malaysia, Great Britain, Scotland, Spain, Greece, Dubai, Egypt, Turkey, Russia, Germany, Costa Rica, and Mexico for now.

relaxation is a luxury

August 2nd, 2008

Finally, a Saturday that is blank on my calendar.  I am so excited to do what I want…which is relax.  The only problem is, I don’t know how to relax!!! I am doing my best though considering it is almost 2:00 p.m. and I am in mismatched pajamas.

Yesterday was Sana’s birthday.  We went to Pete’s Dueling Piano and had a good time. I took on the task of putting everything into motion, and keeping in mind I am a stressful person, it was not pretty!!  All in all, it was worth the stress because it worked out and everyone had a good time.

We just bought tickets to the Jason Mraz concert in October.  Gosh, that is extremely exciting! I hope nothing screws up and we still get to go!! :)  Guess what else happens in October?  HALLOWEEN! My favorite holiday! I know what I am going to be, and it is not original, but I am excited nonetheless.

On Friday I am having surgery in my mouth for my impacted wisdom teeth.  I am looking forward to it because i have been in pain for close to two weeks now.  I wonder if I am going to say something embarrassing when they give me the anesthesia… hm?  What secrets will be revealed?

I guess we will have to wait to find out!!!

california, here we come

July 5th, 2008

It is the morning of our second day in Orange County, California.  We arrived at around 8:30 in the morning yesterday and immediately went for a VERY early lunch.  We ate at  Del Taco, which is supposed to be a really good version of Taco Bell?  Well, it wasn’t bad.  After that, we got lost trying to find our hotel.  It wasn’t so bad since we got there SO early!!!  Since we didn’t really plan anything and didn’t know what our surroundings were going to look like, we had to sit around and think of what to do and how long it would take to get there.  Newport Beach was our destination.  That was a disaster!! Everyone was headed to the beach because it was the fourth of July.  By everyone, I really mean everyone. We could not find any parking spots and tow trucks were everywhere ready to punish the people who didn’t obey the city parking rules.  Eventually, after dropping all the others off to go have fun at the beach, me and Laurie roamed around and found a parking spot that was there all along.  So, we headed to the beach to meet with the others and saw it was one big college party.  I was imagining pristine waters and white sand (like Hawaii).  It was drunk college students, dirty diapers and pads(can you believe that?), brown sand, and COLD water.  Well, everyone tried to make the best of it.  Hina invited us over for dinner, which was so freaking sweet of her.  Her food was good! I am so ashamed I can’t cook like that.  Omer is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! I think everyone loved that little boy.  He didn’t even flinch at the sound of the fireworks ( we went to watch fireworks nearby their apartment).

So today, I woke up really early…so I decided to write in this blog since I never get to otherwise.  I reallly want to go to the gym but have no work out clothes and can’t really go anywhere to get some since they aren’t open yet.  So, guess what our adventure is for today? ………… Santa Monica and Los Angeles!!

that’s what you get when you let your heart win

I have Paramore stuck in my head and I am trying to study for my final exam!

I donated blood on Tuesday.  It was a small attempt to feel like a good Samaritan.   It was an experience, let me tell you.  Carter Bloodcare arranged this blood drive with Turner and a few of us from Corporate were able to sign up.  I walked over to the bus with some co-workers.  The bus was at our Dallas Bu, which is only a few blocks and a few minutes away.  I was SO nervous at first!! Don’t get me wrong, I love needles, but it was my first time!! Everyone’s first time is exciting and scary at the same time 😉 (is that a “That’s what she said”?) Anyway, so they put the needle in me and my hand felt funny and prickly and it was over in a matter of minutes.  I got some juice and crackers and sat down for a few.  We started walking back and I was fine until we were one block away from our building.  Everything started get black and I held onto one of my coworkers.  After a few stops along the way to my desk, I made it and I was whiter than even a white person. It was pretty crazy!!!! I still want to do it again if I get the opportunity, but I will make sure I don’t go on my way for at least 15 minutes.

We are leaving for our little summer holiday tomorrow! I will say that I am not excited.  I don’t really see it happening in my head and also I don’t want to get too worked up over it.  I want to get some sun and some waves!! :)  I am looking forward to that.

OK, I need to study!

bye bye

Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing

May 30th, 2008

If you are reading this post (Laurie), I named my last post “Blue Carpet” because I was sitting on the carpet when I wrote it.  haha

I am extremely exhausted. My body is telling me it is tired and so are my eyes.  I have been having major chest pains and headaches.  The strange thing is, I have been experiencing an odd feeling deep inside my belly…like something is wrong or is going to go wrong but I am actually happy and relaxed right now. I don’t know if I should feel like something is wrong, or my body is tired and is malfunctioning and sending the wrong signals to my brain to relay to my belly.

The garage and the office look great! I am so excited that we can check those two things off the project list.  Steven and I were thinking of putting a yoga mat and some weights in the office.  I am really hoping we use them. I would love to, but I need the energy first.

The trip to California is almost here.  I can’t wait to buy some beach-y jewelry!

Ok, my body is acting up again and I don’t know what to do besides fall down and stare at the ceiling, so I will go!

blue carpet

May 20th, 2008

I am exhausted.  I did not rest this weekend.  I got home from work on Friday at 6 pm.  By 7, I was out the door meeting up with my friend Saira for dinner.  It was nice to see her after what feels like a long time.

On Saturday, me and Steven went shopping at Firewheel Mall (which is a horrible place to go shopping).  I bought an outfit for work, but couldn’t find anything for ‘everyday where’.  We went to Orlando’s place afterwards.  He bought a house out there and Steven REALLY wanted to see it.  It was a very cute house and his dog, Chance, was even cuter. :)

After we got home, we had to get ready and go surprise Thanh for his birthday at Trulucks.  Never been to that place before, but it was pretty good.  We went to Karma afterwards and it was a lot of fun.  I have to admit, I thought I would never have fun going out dancing after the last time I went, but it was a lot of fun.

Sunday we went to the FC Dallas vs LA Galaxy game.  We got Thanh 2 tickets (one for Diep) for his birthday. It was tons of fun, but I got SO tan that I didn’t show up in our group picture :(  I was upset about that all night!! I am such a baby about being tan on my face.

Steven spoke to Jason after so long and found out that he is in the hospital because he has leukemia.  I reallllly hope that he gets better soon.  He has a new girlfriend and they need to be together and grow together. Steven and him have reconnected because of this and they need to secure those ties that were broken.

Anyway, I think I am going to go eat now.

sandals

May 8th, 2008

I am in love with sandals right now.  It is very strange because I usually HATE sandals…even in the summer.  I think the love for sandals grew out of my anticipation for my trip to California.  I can’t wait to hang out at the beach, frolic in the water, eat lunch and dinner outside, go walking/jogging in the morning, and (drum roll) go whale watching!!!  I am so excited to see my big babies out in open water.

Enough day dreaming…I have my last final exam for the semester at 4:00 today!  I need to pass, but I can’t get myself to study for it.  After this semester, I have three more semesters to go (summer, fall, spring) and I will be done.

No more school talk!  I think I want a snow cone!! yum :)

sorry it has been so long since I wrote

April 17th, 2008

I ended my last (and also my first) blog with excitement over looking for trips online.  Well, I actually did book a trip for this summer!  My husband, mother-in-law, sister, brother and brothers friends will be accompanying me to California.  I am so so so excited to see the blue whales.  Blue whales are my favorite animals that exist (I also LOVE dinosaurs).

My feet hurt so bad today!!  I had school today at 8 in the morning and then I met up with Laurie and Torana at Maggianos at Northpark Mall for lunch.  THEN, I walked around the mall to find some brown slouchy boots, but of course since its spring, NO BOOTS!!  I drove to The Shops at Willowbend and NO BOOTS.  I wore my new flats today which obviously caused my feet to hurt.   Ok, I lied about NO BOOTS at Willowbend.  I did find some boots, but I did not like the price. OH! Shoot, I forgot about the laundry!

Talk to you soon ( I hope)

My First Posting

April 2nd, 2008

So this is it, Meliha’s blog. I am not an experienced blogger so forgive me if I am not as entertaining as Perez Hilton. I have not decided on a theme for my blog. As of now, I think it will be a melting pot of everything I see and hear. One day I might write about my friends secret confessions, and the next I might post some of my favorite stories of the day. Just kidding about the secret confessions.

My cousin got back from a trip today and it got me thinking about how bad I want to go on a vacay. I am thinking somewhere with a beach. Me and Steven tried to do something adventurous for Spring Break but that resulted in a day trip to San Antonio and a weekend in Shreveport. I have to admit, even though Shreveport reminds me of a mix between Harry Hines and Deep Ellum, it was still fun. Still, San Antonio and Shreveport is a far cry from adventure. I would love love love to get some ideas on a destination for my pending vacation.

I think I have convinced myself to do some searching on Expedia. I guess that means farewell my friends and I will write to you all soon.
